PNS uses different fits across collections. From tightest to most relaxed:

  • Mechanism Pro — race-fit, second-skin. Tighter and shorter than Mechanism. Riders sometimes size down from their usual Mechanism size.
  • Mechanism — the benchmark race fit. Aggressive on the bike.
  • Escapism — race-fit tuned for gravel posture.
  • Solitude — race-fit, ultra-light. Cut even shorter than Mechanism.
  • Essential / Essential Light — regular fit, thoughtfully relaxed. Layering room, longer in the body.
  • Off-Race — sized like fashion, not like cycling.

Rule of thumb: stretchy 4D fabrics (Mechanism, Pro, Escapism) size down if between. Structured fabrics (Essential, thermal jackets) take your true size or size up for layering. Women's XS/S sit on a true Scandinavian women's pattern, so customers who wear S/M in Specialized or Trek frequently land at PNS XS.

Three measurements get you 90% of the way there:

  • Chest — widest circumference, tape flat under the armpits, parallel to the ground, neck relaxed.
  • Waist — roughly 5 cm above the hips, above the navel.
  • Hips — horizontally around the largest part of your hips.

Include those (or your usual size in PNS, Rapha, MAAP, or Castelli) in the reserve form above and we'll pull the closest match plus one size up and one down.

PNS runs a Crash Replacement program at 50% off the original purchase price for damaged kit. Standard care: cool wash inside out, no fabric softener, line dry. Returns within 30 days of purchase, unworn with tags. Detailed wash labels are on every garment.

About Pas Normal Studios

Pas Normal Studios was founded in Copenhagen in 2015 by Karl-Oskar Olsen and Peter Lange. It started as a side project: ten sets of kit made for a friend group ahead of La Marmotte, the gran fondo in the French Alps. Two days after they emailed the design out to their network, 110 people had pre-ordered and paid. The Mechanism collection went commercial that year.

What sets PNS apart is who's at the design table. Karl-Oskar trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and co-founded Wood Wood, the Danish streetwear label, before PNS. A fashion designer is steering the ship in a category run almost entirely by sportswear engineers. The colorways, the silhouette discipline, the restraint with branding all come from that lineage.

The technical credentials are real too. Fully-dyed Italian fabrics. Race-grade construction across Mechanism (road), Mechanism Pro (aero), Escapism (gravel), Solitude (hot solo days), and the editorial T.K.O. and PAS lines. PNS runs its own gravel and road race team, PAS Racing, and sponsors Steve Tilford Foundation Racing in the U.S. for cyclocross.

There is exactly one PNS retail store in the United States, in San Francisco. The closest physical place south of SF to try on the full range is Sundays. Drop by for a fit consultation, try the kit on, ride out PCH in it.

I wanted to make cycling clothes that made you feel like you were wearing a tailored suit.
